I’M BACK! And I brought Mara Hoffman with me

HELLLOOOO AGAIN! Sorry I haven’t posted in so long. I have had a truckload of things occupying my free time…including another blog I started writing for: Charleston Style. check it!

UPDATE: Firstly, I was in Cancun for a week…no explanation needed on that one…cough cough tequila. IMMEDIATELY after that, it was Charleston Fashion Week! The busiest time of the year for the Charleston fashion scene. I was assistant to the Creative Director…translation…no sleep, loads of work, numerous after parties and the best memories (cheesy but its DA TRUTH). It’s what my boss likes to call “fashion camp.” Check out the CFW website and Charleston Style blog for pics!! The fun didn’t stop there! (sarcasm) My professors decided to conspire against me and put FOUR exams and THREE projects immediately after Spring Break and CFW. Let’s do the math….No sleep+tons of partying+tons of work=CRASH! I then spent a week and a half in bed recovering from the month of March. Luckily April rolled around bringing BIRTHDAY presents, beach days and family visits. You know what else April brought? An AMAZING birthday phone call with AMAZING news. I will be studying fashion, business and art in PARIS this coming fall. You know what that means! TONS OF THINGS TO BLOG ABOUT!! Soooo to wrap things up, the past two months have been all over the place, the semester is coming to a close (more projects and tests bleckkk) and the weather is PERFECT! I hope you all enjoyed my novel of an update because I probably won’t go on a venting schpeel like that in a very long time…hopefully. I know you all aren’t reading for the nonsense I call my life, so I will get onto business. Here is a little something that has inspired me lately…

Mara Hoffman

I recently wore this Mara Hoffman to an event. What a conversation piece right? I can’t get enough of Mara Hoffman’s Spring ’10 collection. The prints are very tribal and psychedelic. Completely opposite of a typical “me” outfit (aka black and vampy)..which is why I HAD to have this dress. Thank you Aunt Marie for my bday gift!! Here are some other Mara Hoffman’s I have been drooling over…{side note: I’ve noticed all of Mara Hoffman’s pieces draw attention to the ass…chaachinnggg}

Mara Hoffman’s prints are so refreshing. Not only are the psychedelic prints on-trend but they are extremely figure flattering, drawing attention to all the right places…aka boobs and butt. I’m not joking, the SECOND I put my dress on I felt like a had an entirely different body. The fitted top and draping was extremely comfortable. Wow, I’m starting to sound freakishly like one of those “real people” in an infomercial who always have something great to say about the product. This needs to stop, now. Any-hoot, love these pieces. On-trend, figure flattering–who’s complaining?  Also love Mara’s blog. Definitely obvious where inspiration for her pieces came from…

Hope this puts you in the mood for Spring/Summer trends!!!

Another quick update (promise this won’t be a novel)…I’m designing a collection for my History of Fashion class and its due…ermmm…NEXT WEEK! Luckilyyyyy, I only have to turn in the sketches and fabric swatches and I don’t actually have to CREATE the garments. I will upload pics under the “Fashion Sketches” tab so keep an eye out! (whenever I get around to actually starting….AH!) OKAY! Off to the library…tata darlingsss (fancy accent)

Props to Aldo

Aldo Spring/Summer 2010 Campaign

{Jessica Stam and Boyd Holbrook
shot by Terry Richardson}

Props to Aldo for hiring photographer Terry Richardson!…one of my favorite photographers. His pictures are usually super raunchy and raw…which I love. For Aldo, he kept it innocent and playful…which I also love (but maybe a little less).

Speaking of PROPS!! That’s my favorite thing about this campaign. It reminds me of when I was in elementary school and I REALLYYYY wanted a lip phone. I put it on every Christmas/birthday list for about 5 years but gave up once cell phones rolled around. I still want one…..also loving the skull and the cheetah.

Here’s the campaign video….

So impressed with Aldo for doing something cool.

it’s a family affair

Growing up…my brother, sister and I were COMPLETELY different. My brother played rugby, my sister read books about dragons and I put on a pair of tap shoes and a tutu. Fastforward 2010…My brother: fashion design major…my sister: obbsessed with Alexander McQueen…and I, well, you already know. Crazy how things work out, right!? Here’s where it gets even better…we are now a family of BLOGGERS! My brother started his this past weekend….Style Deviant…check it out!! Combine fashion/music/random with his clever wit and VIOLA…a great blog is born! …..we just need to get my sister in on it…trust me, it’s in the makings. I’ll keep you updated!!

Speaking of fashionable families….The Ronson’s know what’s up. I can’t help but compare my family to them…2 sisters and a brother, HELLO! And they’re all style savy!! If only my family can make it to their level!!! I don’t need to give you a bio on this fabulous-o trio (who DOESN’T know who they are)…but I will give you some pics to quench your fashion-thirst!

I couldn’t have a post without some designer actionnnn. Speaking of Miss Ronson…here’s some of my favorites from her Spring ’10 collection.

And here’s a little music!! Mark Ronson- Diverson

fashion in wonderland

It looks as if designers took a little trip when creating their collections for Spring 2010. Either that or they were anticipating the upcoming release of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Whatever sparked the inspiration (drugs-movies-astronomy: you decide!), it is evident that intergalactic/psychedelic prints are a MUST for the spring.

{Proenza Schouler}

{Basso&Brooke}

Here’s a little music to get you in a trippy/space-y mood!

{high waisted shorts and ruffle neckline= french chic}

{fur coat. nuff said.}

{she would be able to pull this off…jealous. jealous. jealous.}

{black alligator jacket, can I have you?}

Can one person have everything? Looks, talent and style? Not to mention she’s French, which makes her even more perfect….and an astrologer!!! (astrology=sick addiction of mine). So, to put it simply, I want to be her when I grow up.

Check ittttt…..

After watching that video… you want to hide under a rock…don’t you?

good morning, charlie

Charlie Le Mindu‘s collection makes me über-duper excited. After seeing some of my favorite performers wear his pieces, I had to do a little research myself

{click for peaches and gaga wearing Charlie Le Mindu}

Let me give you a little update on my life. Last night,  I had a scathingly brilliant idea. I decided to wait outside of the GaGa concert (ticket-less) and mingle with scalpers in hopes to make my way into the monster-ball. Unfortunately, the premise was scalper-free….but did that stop me? Yeah right.  Since there were no scalpers to bargain with, I moved on to the next best thing: doormen. With a little flirting and a wad of cash, I WAS IN!!!!! Yes, I bribed my way into the Lady GaGa concert- and I’m proud of it!! AMAZINNGG CONCERT- hence, this post.

I can talk for decades about how inspirational GaGa is, but I will spare you the rambling and focus on one topic. WIGS! Thanks to Miss GaGa, the monster-wig queen, I stumbled across the brilliant Charlie Le Mindu. I saw his Spring 2010 collection awhile back and became OBBBBSSESSSED. I’m a hair-mogul myself (yes, I used to cut everyone’s bangs in the girl’s bathroom back in the 8th grade)..so seeing someone with unique hair expertise is so refreshing, especially since it is applied to high fashion. I’ve always wanted to blog about him but never felt that spark of inspiration that is required for my posts.

Thank you, Queen GaGa, for entrancing me with your performance and making this post possible. Love, your little Monster.

i want candyyy

Fifteen years ago, I was begging my mom to take me to the candy store and buy me everything in sight! …today, it’s a totally different story. Okay, well there’s still begging involved…and in this case, there’s still a “candy shop” involved….

Candy Shop Vintage is a jewelry shop “inspired by the aesthetic of vintage candy stores and soda fountains” and is a “combination of nostalgia and excitement.”  It is also the shop that introduced me to the Aries Ring. If you keep up with my blog, you know I have a crazy-fantastic ring fetish (along with my shoe fetish and eye makeup fetish)…and if you REALLLYYY know me, you know that I have a crazy obsession with horoscopes. So you can only imagine my reaction when I stumbled across an Aries Ram ring.

{Here is the Capricorn Ring…Aries Ring picture will be posted soon}

So here’s the story….My boss hosted a Vintage Village event featuring local vintage vendors (me + tons of vintage + credit card = distaster). Picture this:  debit card in one hand–vintage jewelry, boots and clothes in the other….I then had to remind myself that $27 in the bank account was not enough for a beaded dress, sequin shirt, brocade jacket, over the knee boots (they are red suede HELLOOO must have) AND the Aries Ram ring. That’s where mommy came in…thanks mom for the early Christmas gifts!! AND thank you Lori Wyatt for my red boots, Cavortress for my New Years outfit, and Candy Shop Vintage for my Aries Ram ring.

Isn’t Candy Shop Vintage so cute?! I love the displays!!

Also, here are some TO DIIIEEEE FOR furs from Cavortress. I tried the black one on but didn’t get it…I could only beg for so much from the mother!!!
